Cordata
In March 2021, three orphaned foals were ripped from the reservation range and shipped to a kill pen in Montana where they were found cowering with 40 other horses.
Fellow rescue groups asked if Zuma’s would step in. We arranged quarantine, medical attention, and transport to Colorado. Even after 30 days of food, medical attention and love, these fillies were so full of parasites, ticks and fungus they had to spend another 14 days in intensive care after arriving in Colorado.
Cordata was born nearly 100% blind along with spinal deformities.
Through extensive nutritional monitoring, craniosacral therapy, and kinesiology taping, this sweet little trio has come so far in their rehabilitation but will need consistent support for the remainder of their lives. These babies were named after trees all beginning with C for their ability to shed their leaves and grow into strong beings.
Today, Cordata’s spinal issues are improving and doesn’t let her blindness prevent her from running with her friends like any other filly. When visiting Cordata, make sure you talk to her to let her know you’re there!
