UTMOST

This 2014, 16.3 hand Thoroughbred gelding was rescued from Florida in August 2021 after his racing career ended.

Utmost spent months in rehabilitation, gaining weight and working to re-grow severely damaged hooves. He began his re-training under saddle in the late spring of 2022.

Utmost was a polite boy and would always letting staff know when his gate was unlatched by whinnying, but never trying to escape his paddock. He was an incredible ambassador, teaching our visitors about the predatory racehorse industry through his participation in our education program.

Utmost touched so many lives in the short year and a half that he claimed sanctuary at Zuma’s after his racing career ended. To see the impact this adorable chestnut had on so many leaves us in tears as we remember his cute whinny at feeding time, his fake-out attempts at biting while putting his blanket on, and his ranch-famous playtime with his best buddy, Forrest.
