In early 2022, four mini horses were saved from a livestock auction in Montana with the hard work of collaborating rescues Horse Plus Humane Society and Colorado Unwanted Horse Alliance. They were skinny, covered in lice and bugs, all with feet that hadn’t been trimmed in months. Our rescue partner Ariel Fox worked on their rehabilitation day in and day out before the little herd was strong enough to make the journey to Zuma’s. 

One poor soul, George, succumbed to the effects of the abuse he had long suffered, but his herd mates survived their long trip. Today, these three are thriving. Dubbed the Seinfeld Herd, they gained weight and worked on social skills with our trainers. 

Elaine, the only 2017 mare of the group, is a sweet and affectionate little lady. If you visit her in the goat yard, she will most likely be the first to greet you. Elaine can do it all: she is a wonderful therapy partner for our mental health programs and an absolute superstar at birthday parties and events!
